Introducing Build Haywood Business: Practical Tools for Small Business Success
A new Brownsville Haywood County Chamber of Commerce workshop series designed to help entrepreneurs start stronger, operate smarter, and grow with confidence.
Small businesses are an important part of a strong local economy, creating jobs, generating economic activity, and contributing to the character of our communities. The U.S. Small Business Administration reports that small businesses account for 99.9% of all U.S. businesses, underscoring their importance to communities across the country.
With that in mind, the Brownsville Haywood County Chamber of Commerce is excited to introduce Build Haywood Business, a new small business development workshop series created to provide local entrepreneurs and business owners with practical information, professional guidance, and connections that can help strengthen their businesses.
Built for New AND Existing Businesses
Build Haywood Business isn't only for people who are thinking about starting a business. The series is also designed for existing small business owners who want to strengthen, improve, or grow what they've already built.
Each workshop will focus on a different aspect of business development and provide information participants can put into practice. Future sessions may explore topics such as business planning, financial management, marketing, customer engagement, business operations, access to capital, technology, and other issues that matter to today's small business owners.
Whether you're developing your first business idea, have been operating for several years, or simply want to sharpen your business knowledge, Build Haywood Business is for you.
We’re Starting with the Foundation: Business Planning
Our first Build Haywood Business workshop will be held September 22, 2026, from 9:00–10:00 AM and will focus on creating and strengthening a business plan.
Presented in partnership with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), the session will help participants better understand the business-planning process and how a well-developed plan can be used to guide business decisions and growth. The SBA identifies a business plan as a foundational tool for structuring, operating, and growing a business and notes that it can also help businesses pursue funding or attract partners.
Already have a business plan? Bring it back out! This is an opportunity to revisit your goals, evaluate where your business is today, and consider whether your plan still reflects where you want your business to go.
Let’s Build Haywood Business
Through this series, the Chamber wants to create opportunities for local business owners to learn, connect, plan, and grow. Stronger businesses contribute to a stronger local economy—and we want to make sure our entrepreneurs have opportunities to access the resources and knowledge available to help them succeed.
Build Haywood Business: Start. Strengthen. Grow.
